5,000 subscribers
A huge thank you to every one of the 5,000+ who have subscribed to the new AAV Substack so far
Last month I set up this Substack because the Facebook and Twitter algorithms have been making it ever more difficult for me to connect with the many people who follow my work on those platforms.
I’m absolutely chuffed with how it’s gone so far, and I’m feeling more enthusiastic and optimistic about my work than I have in years.
I’ve posted 15 articles in under three weeks, which represents a significant increase in the kind of detailed long form posts that I used to produce a lot more of, before Facebook made links to my original AAV blog almost invisible on their platform.
Thank you to every single one of you who has subscribed so far, and especially those who have liked, restacked, or commented on any of my posts here.
Here are a few things you can do if you would like to help me out a bit more than you already have.
Set up a paid Substack subscription if you haven’t already, or a subscription via one of my older donation platforms (GoCardless, PayPal, KoFi).
If you can’t afford to set up a paid subscription, or don’t want to, that’s absolutely fine. There are several other things you can do that would really help too:
Spread awareness:
If you can think of anyone who might be interested in my work, please send them a link to my Substack (via email, WhatsApp, direct message …), tell them by old-fashioned analogue conversation, or whatever.
They don’t have to be particularly left-wing, as long as they’re open-minded and capable of polite reasoned debate over things they might disagree with, they’d be more than welcome here.
There are still well over 300,000 people following my Facebook page who are probably unaware of this new AAV Substack because Facebook never shows them any of my posts from one month to the next. If you could visit the Another Angry Voice Facebook page, see if any of your friends follow it, and send them a message to tell them about the new AAV Substack, that would be amazing.
Share links:
One of the most helpful things that readers can do is copy links to my articles and post them where they’re relevant. On their own social media profiles, in political chatrooms, in online comments sections, in WhatsApp groups, wherever …
The more links to AAV posts in different places, the more visitors.
Follow AAV on other platforms:
Substack is working so well for me already that I’ve already decided that it’s going to be the main hub for my long form essays from now on (with short form AAV posts on Substack Notes too), but this doesn’t mean I’m going to abandon the other platforms where I’ve been active in the past (AAV Facebook, AAV Twitter, AAV Blogger, AAV Instagram, AAV YouTube).
I’m staying active on the first four, and I’m planning to start posting multimedia content on YouTube at some point later this year, so that’s probably worth keeping an eye on.
Thank you
Once again, thank you ever so much to everyone who has subscribed so far, whether it’s a paid subscription or a free one, I’m delighted that you see enough value in my work to set up email notifications when I post new articles.
And thanks to everyone who helps me out too, in all the different ways.
All this would have been completely impossible without all the follows, likes, shares, recommendations, comments, and supportive messages I’ve received on various platforms over the years.
