JD Vance just denigrated Britain again
JD Vance keeps on denigrating Britain. When are Starmer and the establishment hack-pack going to wake up to the fact that Trump, Vance, and Musk are not Britain's allies?
Donald Trump’s vice president JD Vance just denigrated the UK as "some random country that hasn’t fought a war in thirty or forty years" in his efforts to pressurise Zelenskyy into signing hundreds of $billions worth of Ukrainian mineral resources over to the United States.
The British commentariat have puffed themselves up in outrage over Vance’s comments, insisting that Britain has actually fought in wars in the last three or four decades.
How could Vance just casually dismiss our involvement in Afghanistan and Iraq like that?
Yes! Those wonderful success stories of a failed twenty year occupation before giving up and letting the Taliban take back over, and turning Iraq into the vast lawless terrorism breeding ground that gave rise to ISIS.
How could Vance forget that Britain was there as the United States’ loyal war-mongering sidekick in their imperialist misadventures?
And how can Vance cry so hard about Zelenskyy being disrespectful to the United States last week, then casually dismiss our involvement in their imperialist war-mongering as if it didn’t even happen?
One of the most common responses from the UK commentariat has been to cite the numbers of dead British personnel in the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan, to the extent of posting collages of their faces in response to his comments.
I’m sure all these dead soldiers would be delighted to know that they died in failed overseas occupations in order to eventually serve the purpose of scoring political points against the vice-president of the United States on Twitter!
Vance has tried to roll back his comments by claiming he wasn’t talking about Britain or Keir Starmer’s plan to "put boots on the ground" in Ukraine, rather some unspecified other country, However he’s got a proven history of denigrating Britain, from his recent claims that there’s no free speech in the UK, to his absurd assertion that Britain became the world’s first "truly Islamist" nation to have nuclear weapons, and he’s unwilling to say which "random country" he was denigrating.
We’re living in remarkable times. Trump and Vance are ripping up the transatlantic alliance in front of our eyes, while the UK commentariat cry like babies that Britain isn’t being shown respect for past contributions to US imperialism.
Vance’s position on Ukraine is absurdly brazen. He’s trying to argue that Ukraine needs to let the US loot Ukraine’s resources in return for zero security guarantees, because if Ukraine’s resources become American-owned, they’d be inclined to defend them.
It’s obviously just a protection racket style resource grab, and in order for it to work they need to denigrate the idea of European nations continuing to bankroll Ukraine’s war with Russia.
It’s interesting to see some of the same commentators who vehemently defended Starmer’s crawling sycophancy at the feet of Trump last week, suddenly crying with anguish at Vance’s disrespect just a few days later.
When are they going to realise that Trump, Musk, and Vance are not Britain’s allies?
Because our establishment lost their Empire, and all they have left is following the US empire around like a teenage girl in love with the school sports captain.
Vance is acting like he’s a contestant on “The Apprentice”, scurrying around trying to prove how tough he is and saying what he thinks are the right things to please the master. All so he won’t get fired. Trump keeps this going by saying in interviews that he’s not sure Vance can be his successor.
