Why are Starmer's goons spewing so much hate at a Jewish politician?

Keir Starmer's supporters have been viciously bullying and smearing the Jewish politician Jo Bird, and the media couldn't give a damn about this tsunami of Labour antisemitism

The Labour right always had it in for the Jewish councillor Jo Bird because she’s the kind of left-wing Jew that they despise, and after several failed attempts to purge her they eventually succeeded in hounding her out of the Labour Party by banning a Labour fringe group and then expelling her for her interactions with that fringe group literally years before they were banned.

Jo Bird is far from the only Jewish socialist to have been purged from the Labour Party under Keir Starmer’s reign of terror.

Aside from Jo Bird who was denied natural justice via an absurd retroactive punishment there’s also the case of the Jewish peace activist Naomi Wimborne-Idrissi who was hastily booted out of the Labour Party after being elected onto the party’s NEC, and the case of the Holocaust Survivor Stephen Kapos who was forced to resign after Starmer’s goons threatened him with expulsion for speaking at a Holocaust memorial event.

Jewish Voice For Labour have identified 60 Jewish Labour members expelled by the Labour Party under Starmer’s leadership, and point out how the party systematically uses accusations of antisemitism to bully and abuse left-wing Jews.

After Labour deliberately binned the principle of natural justice to get rid of her, Jo Bird infuriated her persecutors by refusing to lie down an accept the expulsion from public life they wanted to inflict on her. Instead she stood as an independent candidate and won back her council seat, then she joined the Green Party where she’s been selected as their candidate in the Birkenhead constituency for the next general election.

The announcement of Bird’s candidacy has sparked a deranged outpouring of hate, smears, and bullying from the Labour right.

You only have to search her name on Twitter to see the tsunami of bile and lies the Labour right have been spitting at her.

One of the leaders of this torrent of abuse against a Jewish politician was the Labour councillor and Hope Not Hate communications officer Rebecca Filer, who slammed the Greens for accepting one of Labour’s Jewish refugees, describing her as a “crank”, which is an absurdly hateful comment for Filer to make about a Jewish politician given her communications role at a supposedly anti-racist charity.

Plenty of others in the Labour right mob went further than personal abuse to post antisemitic smears and downright actionable lies about her.

You can’t really get more brazenly antisemitic than relying on the antisemitic trope of the "self-hating Jew" to accuse a Jewish politician of being an antisemite purely because you disagree with their politics.

And it’s difficult to imagine a more clearcut example of defamation than pretending that a Jewish politician was kicked out of Labour for antisemitism, when they were actually purged through retroactive tinkering with the rules to ban a campaign against the misuse of party disciplinary processes for factional purposes.

But this is what literally scores of Labour right-wingers have been doing, with absolutely no sanction from the Labour Party, and no coverage from the capitalist media and BBC hacks who pretended to care so much about the Labour antisemitism issue when it was a convenient stick to whack Jeremy Corbyn with.

The Labour right-wingers hurling all of this abuse at Jo Bird are astonishingly confident about smearing and insulting a Jewish politician, mainly because Keir Starmer indicated his tolerance of antisemitism from the Labour right by clearing Labour right antisemites like Barry Sheerman after he tweeted about there being "a run on silver shekels" about two Jewish Tory donors.

As far as Starmer is concerned, it’s open season on left-wing Jews, while the Labour right can spew as much Jew-hate as they like without consequence, and aren’t his supporters making it clear that they understand the rules of Starmer’s depraved game.

This is just a tiny taste of the torrents of Labour vitriol being spewed at a Jewish politician from Labour-supporting accounts, and absolutely nothing will be done about it.

Starmer won’t do anything to punish the Labour Party members spewing hate at a Jewish woman, and the media will obviously refuse to highlight the torrents of anti-Jewish hate that are actually happening right now, in plain sight, under Keir Starmer’s watch.

In fact it’s highly likely that Labour will intensify the abuse and smears if it begins to look like Jo Bird can win in Birkenhead, and the media will play along with them by repeatedly omitting the fact that Jo Bird is Jewish from their hyper-partisan screeds about her supposed "antisemitism".

One of the main reasons Labour right-wingers hate Jo Bird so much is that she refused to lie down and quietly accept the expulsion from public life they tried to inflict on her, and another is the fear that she could actually win in Birkenhead and take a seat they they worked so hard to remove the sitting Labour MP from to replace him with one of Starmer’s nodding dogs.
