What should be done with the £10 million?

The Tories say they're keeping the £10 million donation from a guy who called for an MP to be shot, others say it should be given back or donated to anti-racism charities.

The Tories’ biggest donor Frank Hester spewed racist abuse about Diane Abbott and called for her to be killed. This revelation comes just weeks after the political establishment class deliberately whipped up an Islamophobic moral panic over unspecified threats and abuse, by unspecified people, against unspecified MPs.

Hester, the recipient of over £440 million in government contracts since 2016, has kicked back £10 million in donations to the Tory party that signed off on these contracts in the first place.

The Tories insist that they’re keeping the money. They clearly need it because they’re going to struggle to pay for a 2019-style bombardment of Facebook election lies without it.

This decision to keep the cash makes an absolute mockery of Rishi Sunak’s sinister speech on the steps of Downing Street earlier this month, in which he stated that "MPs do not feel safe in their homes" and that "threats of violence and intimidation are alien to our way of doing things: they must be resisted at all times".

The Labour Party and the Liberal-Democrats have adopted the confusing position that the Tories should "give the money back", which constitutes nothing more than rewarding a rich arsehole with an extra ten million quid for being caught spewing racist abuse and calling for the murder of an MP!

The Green Party have called for the £10 million to be given to anti-racism charities, which seems like a much better solution than having the Tories keep it, or rewarding the perpetrator with what would be a life-changing amount of cash to 99.9% of people.

For me the most elegant solution would be to give the £10 million to Diane Abbott to distribute it to the anti-racism charities and community projects of her choosing.
