In Canada, when public sector workers were making actual wage gains (pre-1976 and on rare occasion since) the private/corporate sector were complaining that it was putting pressure on them to increase private sector wages as well. Since the 1970s (as noted, with few exceptions) governments (both federal and provincial) have used every means at their disposal to suppress public sector wages, including back to work legislation and "essential services" legislation. That, of course, has helped the corporate/private sector suppress wages in their businesses as well. It is clearly a commitment by governments to do the bidding of their corporate masters.
As in other countries, Canada's main stream media (including the publicly owned CBC) preach the propaganda about wages driving inflation even when workers are receiving real terms wage cuts and corporate masters are receiving eye-watering incomes, bonuses, increases, and exit packages. There is no diverting them from their mission to assist capitalist governments and the corporate masters in their mission to impoverish, subjugate, and forever indenture working people, those who are poor, minority groups, and the disabled.
The Biden team apparently, judging by the tweet on being 'laser focused' on blah.... Then there's the story on a Chinese team and a new laser cooling system, the hot air balloons, the laser show off Hawaii earlier in the year... Maui being the third priciest real estate globally, the Las Vegas police chief with baggage, interesting mayoral connections and billionaires buying up land. The location of the fires, the water, roads closed both ways and new tales of lack of assistance...
The BBC is the Tory Party propoganda arm.
Senior management is inured inTory ideology, and I have ceased to watch BBC news,ITV news is slightly preferable.

Misleading articles that omit relevant facts or context are the stock in trade of many political writers.
Hawaii wildfires being caused by lasers? That’s a fresh take. Not really but what idiot would believe that?

Probably tin hat conspiracy to be suspicious...
Oh, and the warning sirens didn't go off...
BBC = brazen bullshit (by) conservatives
Many who have a wage rise vaguely in line with inflation this year will not have had one last year.
I never watch or listen to the BBC. I don't have a licence.
I'm expecting that, in the case of the BBC, AI will turn out to be an improvement.
Speaking of AI, I thought there was a semi-conductor shortage. How is progress on AI that’s going been happening lately even real?
I want my PS5 dammit.
The media is lying about the aAI advancement, maybe? Maybe they need to fir some reason.
