A non-exhaustive list of evidence that Israel is a terrorist state

Israel is a terrorist state that continually terrorises civilians, defies international law, and carries out unprecedented atrocities.

Israel is not just committing genocidal acts in Gaza, their leading politicians, military personnel, and media figures have openly bragged about their genocidal campaign of collective punishment against Palestinian civilians (see the South African submission to the ICJ p59-70).

Israel has systematically targeted and destroyed hospitals, ambulances, and medical facilities across Gaza, as well as targeting prominent Palestinian medics and their families via airstrikes on their homes.

Israel has killed more journalists in Gaza than the total number of journalists killed during seven years of WWII!

Israel has been using unlawful siege tactics to blockade food, water, and medical supplies from entering Gaza, resulting in mass starvation and causing doctors to carry out hundreds of medical procedures, including amputations, without any anaesthetics.

Israel has killed far more Palestinian civilians in their six month assault on Gaza than Russian and Ukrainian forces have killed between them in two years of full-scale war.

Israel has repeatedly targeted aid workers and used aid convoy trucks as bait to commit massacres against starving civilians. As a result Israel has killed more aid workers in six months than the global total of aid workers killed in all other conflicts combined in any year this century (see chart)

Like ISIS and the Taliban Israel systematically targets historical and archaeological sites in Gaza for destruction as part of their genocidal campaign of Palestinian erasure.

Israeli soldiers have repeatedly filmed themselves committing all kinds of depraved acts (looting, torture, arson, destruction of civilian infrastructure, humiliation of captives, desecration of corpses …) and gleefully uploaded them to social media as if they’re proud to be defying internationally recognised standards of conduct.

Israeli soldiers have killed civilians carrying white flags on multiple occasions, including Israeli hostages who were murdered by Israeli forces despite holding white flags and pleading for their lives in Hebrew.

The white flag is a universally recognised symbol of surrender, and it’s a grave violation contravention of international standards to kill those who have surrendered, whether they’re combatants, civilians, or your own hostages that you’re ostensibly seeking to rescue.

According to Haaretz Israel has set up "kill zones" in occupied Gaza where anyone who enters will get shot, even if they’re unarmed. Once again a clear violation of international laws which prohibit the deliberate targeting and killing of civilians, medics, journalists, etc.

Israel’s attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus was a grave violation of the centuries-old principle that embassies, consulates, and envoys are not legitimate military targets.

The historical record is absolutely clear that it’s only terrorists that deliberately target embassies and consulates, with the one other state attack on a foreign consulate being the US bombing of the Chinese consulate in Serbia, which they claimed was a mistake and apologised for.

Genocide; looting; targeting of civilians and destruction of civilian infrastructure; establishment of illegal "kill zones"; shooting at white flags; destruction of hospitals and targeting of medics; the mass killing of journalists; the highest civilian casualty rate of any conflict this century; violation of the ancient principle against targeting diplomatic missions …

Israel repeatedly violates international laws and internationally recognised standards of conduct, knowing full well that the likes of the United States; the United Kingdom; and Germany will continue to back them, no matter how much their conduct degenerates into genocide and state terrorism.

States that continue arming and supporting Israel as they commit genocide, war crimes, and acts of state terrorism are complicit under international law, but as we all know, laws are "spider webs for the rich and powerful, steel chains for the weak and poor", so proper punishment is just as unlikely now as it was when Britain and the United States conducted their illegal and disastrous invasion of Iraq.

But the blowback is likely to be severe given that Israel is ripping up so many internationally recognised laws and precedents.

By ignoring Israel’s attack on the Iranian consulate, western states are giving the green light to hostile states to attack their own diplomatic missions, and by ignoring Israeli genocide and war crimes, they’re catastrophically undermining their own position the next time they seek to criticise hostile states for their atrocities.

Israel is tearing down international laws and conventions, many of which were established to prevent a repeat of the unspeakable atrocities committed by Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan during the Second World War.

They’re not just destroying Gaza and killing thousands of Palestinian civilians, they’re also making the whole world a more dangerous place by deliberately wrecking the internationally recognised standards that all countries are expected to abide by.
