Israel made us do it!
Senior US government figures admit that they only attacked Iran because they knew Israel was going to attack Iran.
When Donald Trump bypassed Congress to authorise US attacks on Iran he blathered on about Iran posing an imminent threat to the US, and about regime change.
He was quickly contradicted by the Pentagon, which told Congress that Iran did not pose an imminent threat to the United States.
The regime change stuff is dodgy territory too, because attacking another country in order to overthrow their government is unlawful under international law.
On Monday, Mark Rubio (Secretary of State) and Mike Johnson (Speaker) gave an extraordinary new explanation of the origins of the conflict.
They both explained the new position that the US attacked Iran because they knew that Israel was going to attack Iran.
Here’s Mark Rubio spelling it out.
In case you imagine this was some kind of mistake, and that Rubio mis-spoke in attributing the United States decision to attack Iran to Israel, Mike Johnson repeated the same version of events too.
After attributing the decision to launch military attacks on Iran to Israel, their convoluted explanation continued along the lines that the US joining in was a "defensive" move on the United States part, because Iran would supposedly have retaliated against Israeli strikes by attacking United States military assets and personnel in the region, and that the consequences of not getting some strikes against Iran in first would have somehow been worse than leaving Israel to go it alone.
None of these latter parts of the explanation were supported with any kind of evidence or reasoning.
Why would Iran have attacked US assets at all, if they were attacked by Israel alone?
What actual evidence do they have that Iran would have attacked any US assets in response to an Israeli-only attack?
What proof do they have that the consequences would have been worse for the US had the US not joined in with the attacks?
Aside from the logical incoherence of the story they’re trying to spin, there’s the fact that they’re now openly admitting that they allowed Israeli actions to dictate US military policy.
Given that Trump won the 2024 election on the back of promises not to drag the United States into a war with Iran, it’s quite astonishing to see that he didn’t even take the decision to attack himself.
The simple answer to Americans who want to know why they’re at war, is that Israel wanted to start a war, and their bumbling oaf of a President simply went along with it!
Apparently US military policy is no longer decided in The White House, Congress, or the Pentagon … it’s decided in Tel Aviv.

Israel have the Epstein files.
And if/when Israel tells the US they're going to nuke Tehran if the US doesn't put US boots on the ground?
