Keir Starmer is lying when he keeps pretending that we all benefit from private profiteering, when privatisation profiteers are making £billions at our expense, not to our benefit
If he really thinks that, then he is even stupider thanI thought; but he just tends to say whatever comes into his head anyway, without thinking it through..]
Unless he’s an idiot he knows perfectly well he’s simply constantly telling us a pack of lies. Nearly everything he says is a lie. He knows most of us aren’t going to profit from anything this lousy government does and he doesn’t care.
Sadly there is no major party in the UK that will stand up for the people it is supposed to represent. The Tories and 'Reform' are openly corrupt and Labour is busy joining them. The LibDems stand back and say and do nothing. And we remember how they gave away our Post Office and NHS to their mates while betraying their pledge to the students. Here in Scotland it is just as corrupt. The only difference is that the SNP and Greens hypocritically pretend it is otherwise.
While it’s a great idea to denationalize water, energy, the rail system, etc. it should also mandate payment of all outstanding debt (as you mentioned) and a thorough investigation to determine the extent of deliberate financial robbery (with hefty fines).
That Westminster establishment cartel knows all to well that the “all” that will benefit, that have always benefited, are their masters in the corporate sector. Starmer and Reeves are not stupid right-wingers, they are clever, knowledgeable fascists.
Starmer's takeover was never a leadership bid; it was a hijacking, and it's no accident that he has paved the way for fascism.
Biden did exactly the same thing.
Two saboteurs — following an identical path — can't both claim that it's just an "accident." They both used brute, underhanded force, to acquire party-leadership, then, in office, built authoritarian infrastructure, fed corruption, left the left with no party to vote for, and created the political despair that "just happens" to facilitate fascism.
It didn't look AT ALL accidental when Biden did it, and it literally CAN'T be accidental when Starmer does the exact same thing, in the exact same manner.
I'm too old now but we had some great riots and strikes when I was young all fired with passion for a fair system, It's now time for the youth of today to rise up again.
Engels, reflecting on Marx's analysis of capitalist political economy, said that a plus for capital is always a minus for labour and excluding the kind of collapse of the economy that a Trump-led trade war could issue in its wake it is basically true. This is because capitalism is a mode of PRODUCTION, not of distribution, and exploitation is not a technical arrangement or disorder but the fundamental basis of a mode of production where surplus value and capital accumulation are based on the exploitation of the working class. Ergo ANY Labour leader i.e LEADER OF THE LABOUR MOVEMENT who does not stand fundamentally for public ownership and the redistribution of wealth through progressive taxation and EXPROPRIATION cannot call themselves a socialist and are Labour in name only. This particularly applies to Scab Starmer and austerity-happy Reeves with their ridiculous commitment to scotched earth Tory fiscal arrangements (a booby trap bomb left by an administration that knew it was done for!), refusal to re-join the Customs Union and cock sucking of Adolf Hitler's stunt double in the White House. After World War II Keynesian economics did seem to work for a while but as Paul Mattick warned there would have been limits to what a "mixed economy" [sic] could achieve even if it wasn't based on FICTITIOUS CAPITAL (Geoff Pilling) that had to be reclaimed from the (diminishing) creation of surplus value in the future. Ergo, while post war Labour's classic social democracy did win some limited but significant gains for the working class within capitalism this was always living on borrowed time and once Thatcher crushed the political labour movement and looted the publicly owned industries and services to fuel a completely parasitic financial services sector there was no going back. This was a structural change from wealth creation to wealth appropriation and once those bridges were burned there was no going back to the Keynesian "golden age." There are NO reforms to be had and there will NEVER be any respite from the crisis that began in 2008 because there simply isn't enough surplus value in the system to sustain accumulation. The entire system needs to be overthrown and replaced by the foundation for a DEMOCRATICALLY planned economy (not command managed as in the degenerated and deformed workers' states under Stalinism). That public utilities like water and rail should be IMMEDIATELY restored to the public sector WITHOUT A PENNY OF COMPENSATION TO OWNERS AND SHAREHOLDERS is accepted as a given even by people who don't yet consider themselves Marxist revolutionaries but SOCIAL HOUSING SHOULD ALSO BE FREE, funded through progressive taxation and delivered through complete nationalisation of the building industry and property sector. Ergo the "property market" and "property ladder" are abolished. The piecemeal nationalisation of British Steel in Scunthorpe (the only progressive thing this government has done AFTER the fascists of Reform demanded it) should not have been a last resort in the name of national security (for which taxpayers compensate the former owners) but a FIRST RESORT WITHOUT COMPENSATION to save working class jobs and communities. Does this mean we immediately nationalise the whole economy? No. We WILL need a small private sector operating withing parameters regulated and controlled by the state for anything up to 20 years, so long as we need an exchangeable currency on the global market and the working class are not yet ready to completely take control of the economy and abolish traditional management altogether. The Bolsheviks tried to introduce workers control immediately and the result was chaos, the old bosses (the Spetsy) were brought back in to run the economy AND into the Communist Party and that's where Stalinism came from. We none of us want to wake up in North Korea. That said, democratic socialism means more than a Left Wing Labour government winning an election. A Workers Government also involves support from workers' councils that bring together trade unions, environmental and other activists and, above all, anti-fascist militia AS FASCISM IS NOW THE ONLY STRATEGY POSSIBLE FOR A DYING CAPITALISM. What I'm talking about is establishing the basis for a parallel state with the provision that, if a US or Russian backed fascist coup seems likely, power can be transferred to the councils of action FROM Parliament under an Enabling Act. Eventually, when enough workers and their allies get involved they could become authentic workers soviets which is much more democratic than electing corrupt bourgeois politicians with links to lobbyists and big capital to screw us every five years.
Really, really well put together that. Easy to read. Full of info that makes me remember/ learn / think. A+ 😊
PFI in hospitals could have been on the list.
If we’re all still here in 15 years, shutting down our independent food supply to put it in the hands of the large corporations will definitely be on the list .
Why can't we take Parliament into public ownership? It would make everything so much simpler........
I love this idea, we could give it a catchy name like “democracy” or something like that.
Starmer works for the "free" market oligarchs - that's why they let him be elected.
If he really thinks that, then he is even stupider thanI thought; but he just tends to say whatever comes into his head anyway, without thinking it through..]

Did you mean "renationalize?"
You’re right. Good catch.

Couldn't agree more.
