Labservative party a bunch of right nasty pieces of work. No different to the blue Tories. Pocket money? Do kids still get this considering how bad times are? Do Saturday jobs still exist? Why is taking away PIP talked about as a 'hard decision'? It's not. It's a calculated assault on those least able to hit back.
I am in receipt of PIP and I cannot work and, believe me, I’ve tried. Cutting my benefits isn’t going to magically cure me. Applying for PIP is a dehumanising process and Reeves’ and Starmer’s attitude towards the disabled community is disgraceful.
This is exactly right. She is thinking about her credibility in job interviews with big financial institutions once she's left office, not the people whose lives she is actively destroying.
Call it what it is, vindictive and cruel. This from a government that supports a genocide in Gaza, they do not care about ordinary people, they have been given orders to dehumanise another section of society and benefit cuts are a continuation of the process. Any Labour MP who votes for the cuts will hopefully lose their seat at the next election.
Didn't Darren Jones give this soundbite a try and end up apologizing for it?
I'm going to lose my PIP and I've honestly never felt as dehumanized after 14 years of Tory rule as I have since Labour began this assault. Shame on every single party member who is still giving this ghoul of a Prime Minister their confidence.
How dare she? My late disabled husband worked until he was forced to stop at 47. This woman is a complete disgrace, making me consider for the first time in decades to change my vote and leave the Labour party.
As usual they're not saying a damn thing about *employers* making adjustments to help us to work safely, nor about tackling the prejudices against employees who need such support. I was told by one recruitment agent that I can only get hired if I pretend to be well - and presumably then it's touch and go whether I can manage the working conditions on offer. I refuse to lie, so I'm stuffed anyway.
I'm amazed that she thinks that there is anyone left who can be 'helped' by reducing their benefits after the last 15 years. Perhaps the experiment in austerity hasn't run long enough for useful data?
My friend is blind [he has no vision whatsoever]. He is in full-time employment thanks to the Access To Work scheme whereby he employs a PA to assist him to do his job, it also provides him a taxi to and from work. He recently had his personal allowance cut which means his PA will only be paid for 4 days a week instead of 5. Consequently on Fridays, without his PA, he is not at all productive. It also means that his PA is out of pocket with a big wage cut and she is now looking for extra work, otherwise she might have to look for a completely different job. Cutting access to Work payments is especially cruel and it makes no economic sense as a.) the disabled person becomes less productive without that vital support and b.) employing a PA creates x2 jobs and thus benefits the economy through more tax receipts. I utterly despise this supposed 'Labour' Government!
I am also disabled - I was born without arms and legs and I have other health issues such as severe kidney disease and diabetes type 2 [to name just two] and you wouldn't believe the hoops I went through with DWP assessments to 'prove' I couldn't work. This was under the Tory gov't and I went to the media during the Local Elections campaign in the hope that it would also help Labour defeat the Tories - I don't know why I bothered now, this lot are even worse! :( https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/man-born-without-arms-legs-21046360
There's so much I could say, but there isn't room. As a sick and disabled person I'm so scared. Cutting/taking away my PIP won't make me able to work it will just make me destitute, desperate and even more sick and disabled. I have no words to describe the loathing I feel for these evil, depraved sociopaths. May they rot in hell.

Because after all, tax cuts for the rich are much more important than looking after the most vulnerable. Neoliberalism in action.
Same here in the US. Rich people can never be rich enough. Disgusting!

Rachel Reeves is simply doing what she is rewarded to do.

Labour MPs should resign as Labour MPs.

So being a disabled pensioner am I now expected to get a job?

I just don’t know how these people get into bed at night, lay their heads on a pillow and then sleep soundly. Fucking evil the lot of them.
