Rachel Reeves is an antisemitism liar and a hypocrite
Rachel Reeves' accusation that Ken Loach was expelled from Labour for "antisemitism" is a lie, and very hypocritical too, given her history of praising one of Britain's most vile antisemites
Rachel Reeves has launched a dishonest and vitriolic attack on Jamie Driscoll after he resigned from Labour to stand as an independent candidate for North East Mayor.
She lied that the current Mayor of North Tyneside was blocked from standing as Labour’s candidate for having “shared a platform with people who had been expelled from the Labour Party for antisemitism” which is clearly a reference to Driscoll’s appearance at a film festival where he talked to the film director Ken Loach about film (the actual reason given by Starmer’s goons for blocking his candidacy).
Everyone knows that Driscoll was blocked from the selection process because he’s not from Starmer’s right-wing faction of the Labour Party, and that the Ken Loach nonsense was the only excuse they could come up with to oust him and replace him with one of Starmer’s nodding dogs.
Loach wasn’t expelled for, or even accused of antisemitism by the Labour Party.
Which means Reeves is cynically lying about antisemitism for factional purposes.
And when it comes to antisemitism, Rachel Reeves should be very careful who she accuses of Jew-hate, given her track record of lavishing praise on one of Britain’s most notorious antisemites.
Reeves created a Twitter thread celebrating the Tory MP Nancy Astor, and whitewashing her hateful views (which still hasn’t been deleted or apologised for) and she also appeared on Radio 4 to heap praise on this vile woman who famously described Adolf Hitler as a “welcome solution” to the “world problem of Jews”.
In her multiple hagiographies of Nancy Astor, Reeves also ‘forgot’ to mention that Astor was the founder of the pro-Nazi and viciously antisemitic “Cliveden Set”, that she hated Catholics almost as much as she hated Jews, and that she once told a room full of African-American churchgoers that they should be grateful for slavery!
Reeves has never once apologised for whitewashing the legacy of a frothing Jew-hater, and nobody in Britain’s cowardly media class has ever even tried to hold her to account for it.
That Keir Starmer promoted Reeves to shadow chancellor after her despicable whitewashing of Nancy Astor’s antisemitic hate just goes to show that his claimed “zero-tolerance of antisemitism” is an absolute sham.
If you’re part of Keir Starmer’s right-wing faction of the Labour Party you can clearly do whatever you like with total impunity, but if you’re from a different Labour tradition (the Labour left, the soft left, anti-war, social progressive …) they’ll lie, smear, rig internal elections, and use guilt-by-association to marginalise and expel their factional rivals.
Ken Loach isn’t an antisemite, and he wasn’t expelled from Labour for antisemitism. He should consider suing Reeves for defamation.
And Jamie Driscoll is a good guy who has been forced out of the Labour Party by cynical factionalism. You can support his fundraiser for his independent mayoral campaign here.
I'm not sure how people get away with this; surely using anti-semitism in this way is an exploitation of thousands of years of Jewish suffering? Lineker was accused of exploiting and trivialising the Holocaust when he accurately pointed out the similarities between the language from the Home Office and that used in Nazi propaganda and yet the Labour right-wing are able to exploit anti-semitism with impunity.
She's my MP, alas. But the reorganisation of constituency boundaries will free me,as she wants Pudsey , and I'll be in the new Morley seat. And I've already contributed to Jamie's campaign.
