Anyone who has paid the remotest attention can see what kind of person Keir Starmer is, which he’s going to be the incoming Prime Minister with the lowest approval ratings in recorded history.
Somehow, despite seeing how dreadful he is, millions are still voting for him, mainly because they’re completely sick of the Tories.
Here are ten of the things that make Keir Starmer entirely unfit to be Prime Minister:
Austerity
Starmer has made it absolutely clear that he’s sticking with Tory austerity ruination.
He’s not just refusing to reverse the devastating Tory austerity cuts of the last 14 years, he’s also sticking with the exact same ideology of myopic short-term penny pinching that makes more austerity cuts inevitable, when strategic investment for the future is more desperately needed than ever.
Serial lying
Keir Starmer lied his way into the Labour leadership with ten "pledges" that his inner circle gleefully admit that he had zero intention of ever sticking to; he continues to lie about all kinds of issues in the present; and he even bragged that he’d lie to people again in order to win more personal power for himself!
He’s every bit as dishonest as Boris Johnson, but somehow "centrists" have switched from believing that political lying is utterly unspeakable when Johnson did it, to it being perfectly fine when their guy keeps lying through his teeth.
NHS extremism
Of the small minority of voters who give explicitly pro-Labour reasons for endorsing Starmer (as opposed to the 68% who are voting Labour for anti-Tory tactical reasons) a significant proportion are doing so because they believe he’ll save the NHS.
They’re in for a rude awakening because Starmer’s NHS plans look set to deliver even more damage than the Tory austerity years, and his vile health minister Wes Streeting is plotting yet another destructive round of NHS privatisation.
Privatisation profiteering
Starmer’s plot to attack the NHS for the benefit of private health profiteers isn’t the only example of privatisation profiteering in Starmer’s plans.
He’s letting unaccountable private profiteers keep control of thousands of English schools; he’s letting greedy polluting profiteers keep control of England’s water supply; Royal Mail will stay under private control; the energy sector too; and Labour’s renationalistion plan for the railways is a deceptive sham that allows the privatisation profiteers to keep siphoning £billions out of the system by keeping ownership of the actual trains, and operations of rail freight.
Starmer is unquestionably on the side of the parasitical privatisation profiteers, no matter how much it costs ordinary families and the economy as a whole to leave this debilitating economic infestation untreated.
Authoritarianism
Starmer is bitterly intolerant of debate and dissenting opinion, and he’s repeatedly used his faction’s control of the Labour Party bureaucracy to punish, intimidate, and expel anyone who dares question his approach or defy his Stalinist diktats.
This kind of petty authoritarianism is extremely bad news because it brutally punishes anyone who dares to point out that the party has made a poor decision or that it might be heading in the wrong direction.
Strong leaders are open to debate and constructive criticism, but Starmer is the complete opposite of a strong leader, he’s an egotistical tyrant who demands absolute compliance from his subordinates, which forces them into extraordinary desplays of mental gymnastics as he repeatedly makes up new Labour Party policies on the hoof.
Bully boy tactics
Factionalism; Stalinist diktats; internal vote-rigging; the mass expulsion of non-Zionist Jews; parachuting Starmerite nodding dogs into scores of Labour safe seats; abuse of disciplinary processes to remove non-conformists; retroactive punishments …
Anyone who has paid attention to Labour Party politics over the last four years will know what bullies Starmer and his cabal are, and it’s profoundly worrying that these dreadful people are soon going to take control of the legislature, criminal justice system, and secret services.
Racism
The Forde Report into internal Labour Party racism found that the party is operating a "hierarchy of racism" and that it’s becoming a "hostile environment for people of colour", and Keir Starmer is at the centre of all of it.
From his rigging of the leadership election process to exclude people of colour from succeeding him; through his despicable witch hunt of non-Zionist Jews and his defiance of the Forde Report’s findings; to his despicable and inexplicable rabble-rousing against Bangladeshis during the election campaign, Starmer has made it absolutely clear what kind of person he is.
Brexit Betrayal
In 2019 Keir Stamer spat in the faces of "red wall" voters (and completely trashed Labour’s electoral chances) by saying that Labour was "the party of Remain" and insisting on relitigating Brexit with a "sore loser" referendum.
Now he’s morphed into an absolute die-hard Brexiteer who says that he’s behind Tory Brexit for life, and that he’s got no intention of even fixing the most damaging aspects of it.
Whichever side of the Brexit debate people are on, Starmer has spat in their faces and proved to them exactly how untrustworthy he is.
Transphobia
For some reason transphobes are absolutely obsessed with the idea that trans women should be forced to use men’s toilets (where they’d obviously be in extreme danger of conflict, abuse, rape, or worse).
During the election campaign Starmer has jumped onto the extreme-right transphobe bandwagon by insisting that the law should be defied, and that trans women with gender recognition certificates should be excluded from using women’s facilities.
Why is Starmer suddenly pushing this transphobic bigotry now? Why is he ignoring the law as it stands? Who does he think should be empowered to enforce his trans exclusion rules? What powers will he give them to inspect whether women are trans, cis women who don’t fit contemporary beauty standards, non-binary women, or trans men who are being forced to use female facilities as a result of his transphobic exclusion rules? And where does he think trans women and men should actually go to the toilet?
Even if people agree with Starmer’s transphobic stance, surely they’ve got to be concerned about the way he’s just invented this new party policy on the hoof in the middle of an election campaign?
If he’s suddenly going to decide the law shouldn’t apply to one minority on a whim, and his party meekly go along with it, why on earth wouldn’t he apply the same approach to other minorities (people of colour, gays, religious or ethnic groups, the neurodivergent, people who have the "wrong" political opinions …).
Poverty indifference
Keir Starmer is shockingly indifferent to the scale of poverty and inequality in modern day Britain.
He’s repeatedly demonstrated his hostility to the idea of workers receiving inflation-matched pay settlements; he left the footballer Marcus Rashford to take the lead on free school meals for hungry children; he refuses to do anything serious about exploitative slumlords bleeding working families dry; and he won’t even commit to scrapping the Tories’ obscene poverty-spreading Two Child limit.
What he says instead is that he’s going to stick with (poverty spreading) Tory spending plans until they magically bring about growth and prosperity, despite having failed to do so for the last 14 years of soaring poverty, collapsing home-ownership, stagnating wages, and anaemic economic growth.
Genocide complicity
When Keir Starmer cynically sabotaged the SNP’s Gaza ceasefire motion he did it to remove reference to Israel’s genocidal war crimes. He outright refuses to acknowledge that Britain should not be selling weapons to states like Israel that use them to massacre civilians; and he even stated that Israel has the right to defy international law by cutting off water, food, and energy to civilian populations!
Starmer’s insistence that Israel had the right to commit war crimes once again provoked mental gymnastics from his subordinates, with the likes of Emily Thornberry and David Lammy publicly insisting that Starmer was right that international law doesn’t apply to Israel, before suddenly doubling back to adopt the new party line that Starmer never actually said what everyone heard him say.
Anyone with a conscience has been absolutely horrified by Israel’s war crimes, and all the pictures and videos of dead kids; attacks on medics, journalists, aid workers and food convoys; and Israeli soldiers looting and torturing with impunity, yet Keir Starmer steadfastly sides with the perpetrators.
A damning indictment
Over two thirds of people voting Labour at this election say they’re doing so because they’re basically sick of the Tories, but the lesser of two evils is still evil.
Keir Starmer has proven time and again how unfit he is to lead the country, but in this shockingly rigged electoral system there’s no realistic alternative between him and Rishi Sunak, and if they’re the only two realistic candidates the system can produce, that’s an absolutely damning indictment of Westminster politics and the depraved media class that nurtures it.
And when Starmer turns out to be as unfit to lead as he obviously is, nobody who endorsed him can pretend that they weren’t warned.
Setting up a small monthly GoCardless subscription really helps too.
Great post. Have not voted for this party for all of the reasons stated by AAV in this article. I wonder how long the honeymoon period will last 1,2,3 days/weeks/months, it certainly won't be years.
Having the same issues in the US only not enough people realize that Biden is just as bad as Trump. He's a Catholic🤮 He's a Zionist. Zionism = Nazism. He's a neoliberal capitalist and he's pro profit. He's aiding, abetting, and facilitating a genocide he can end in one phone call. Dems had 50 fucking years to codify Roe. Still no universal healthcare. Biden will veto any legislation for that. He refuse to abolish the filibuster and he's against expanding our supreme court. He's illegally closed the border and he's building Trump's stupid wall.
