Sucking up to bullies doesn't work
Keir Starmer laid gifts at the feet of the self-declared "king" of the United States, hoping for favourable treatment, but bullies like Trump only see subservience as weakness ripe for exploitation
According to the Guardian Keir Starmer arrived in Washington to "fight for the future of Europe", which is an extremely odd way of describing Starmer’s grovelling display of subservience in the desperate hope of favourable treatment from the self-declared "king" of the United States.
If Starmer was really on a mission to "fight for Europe", how come he had no words of rebuke over Trump’s efforts to loot the mineral resources of Ukraine? His threats to invade the Danish territory of Greenland? His threatened trade war with the EU? Trump ministers like Elon Musk and JD Vance attempting to boost the extreme-right into power in Germany? Musk’s threats to bankroll the extreme-right into power in the UK?
What Starmer actually did was flatter Trump’s ego and lay gifts at his feet.
Not only has Starmer announced a massive unfunded military spending splurge at the behest of the United States, he’s also offered the social prestige of a royal visit from Britain’s actual king.
Charles isn’t just the unelected head of state in the UK, he’s also the head of state in Canada too, a country that Trump is economically assaulting with trade tariffs, and threatening to annex.
Starmer isn’t "fighting" at all. He’s resorting to flattery in the desperate hope of receiving favourable treatment while the Trump-Musk mafia threaten, loot, and destabilise other countries.
The problem of course is that things don’t work like that.
Bullies like Trump enjoy the flattery, but they don’t respect it because they see it as weakness to be exploited.
Starmer’s doing as he’s told; impoverishing the poor in Britain and overseas to give Trump the military splurge he wants; refusing to speak out about serious issues of concern; and offering up Charles as social prestige. All without Trump even having to lean on him.
Look at the leaders that Trump really admires: Vlad Putin, Kim Jong Un, and the genocidal maniac Netanyahu.
Trump is obviously going to see Starmer’s display of crawling sycophancy as weakness to be exploited.
It’s clear that Trump will continue to say and do whatever he wants, no matter the trail of chaos and economic destabilisation he causes.
And Starmer’s just showing him that there’s not going to be any pushback from the UK government, even if he loots Ukraine; threatens Commonwealth nations; destabilises Europe; and sends his government ministers like Musk and Vance to promote the extreme-right in Europe, and in Britain too.
It was a pathetic cringe fest seeing Starmer grovelling. I wonder how many times he rehearsed the apparent affectionate pat on Trump's arm, that he did several times?
Spot on as usual. Indeed, the gut wrenching spectacle of Mandelson and Scab Starmer capitulating to this fascist autocrat and thug, and preparing to take his side in a trade war against Europe, is as gut wrenching as is Starmer's abject betrayal of Ukraine, of Denmark and Sweden, and refusal to recognise that Musk and Trump are enabling fascist coups in almost every European country including the UK. This level of appeasement worthy of the Imperial Policy Group and Neville Chamberlain vis Spain in 1936 and Czechoslovakia in 1938 indicates the level of depravity to which the leadership of Counterfeit Labour has stooped since they hi-jacked the party on the back of the psychological warfare offensive against Jeremy Corbyn that delivered the most corrupt and venal government (so far) in modern British history. It also makes one wonder just what the Deep Establishment have on Messrs Mandelson and Starmer regarding the cover up and protection of Granvile Janner , Jimmy Savile and Cyril Smith, associations with Jeffrey Epstein and (by association) to Robert Maxwell, Russian Oligarchs and Trump himself, going back as early as 1987. The fact that the misogynist scum that are the brothers Tate have been magically acquitted in Romania and offered sanctuary in Trump's fascist state reminds us of a very likely recent past in which Starmer and his stinking Right wing Thatcherite entourage were taken to one side, after the election, and both told what would have happened if Jeremy had won and reminded of the skeleton's in his own cupboard. Human right lawyer my Irish arse. LABOUR IN - STARMER OUT!
