Given their rejection of Keynesian economics across the rest of government, citing Keynes to push a military spending splurge is clearly just reverse logic to justify what they already wanted to do
Sadly, it is the nature of the 'beast', so to speak. The rich and powerful, the Western establishments, are fixated on a singular economic goal as per the United States. Quasi-religious but underneath a furious desire to become powerful and wealthy AT ANY COST. The worship of money. Then when things get much much worse for the majority, the scapegoating of minorities particularly the poor, disabled, the left behind, immigrants etc and the ever nearing drumbeat of war. All of it unnecessary, pointless, futile and sadistic. Particularly sadistic.
Underpinning it all is an inverted morality. In short, the poor and their like must be punished for the greed and cunning machinations of the powerful. The logic of the Pharisees. It really is that simple and that tragic.
Yes, the idea that might is right. That the survival of the fittest means the survival of the nastiest. It's not a sustainable philosophy and it will destroy us all unless we stand up to it. It is time to get angry. Human nature is not wholly evil. It won't just be Keynes spinning in his grave, it will be all those members of all our families who fought fascism in the 1940s. It is a betrayal of them and the sacrifice they made for us.
In fact the ideology of Fascism started to form after the International Financial Conference in 1920 in Brussels, where the wealthiest capitalists/bankers discussed what to do with the rise of socialist movements across Europe and emergence of Soviet Russia as an alternative system:
As a result of that Conference they came up with the set of policies called "Austerity" or, as they called it, "Pure economics" (now, doesn't that sound Fascist..) . Simply speaking, "work hard, live hard, and save hard", higher taxes on everyday goods (like VAT) for the workers and lower taxes (like Income and wealth) for the rich. And, of course, Privatization of State assets.

Yes. Fascism is the inevitable result of unconstrained capitalism. It's what happens when the rich need to defend their capital. Shame is that so many ordinary folk make the cynical calculation to be their boot boys and girls.
Simply speaking, Fascism is a radical form of Capitalism. The ugly face it shows in times of inevitable crisis, while keeping the veneer of "democracy" in between.
"Fascism is the final solution to the Class struggle. The totalistic submergence and exploitation of democratic forces for the benefit of higher financial circles.
It is a false revolution. It promises radical change of the society but what it delivers is ongoing war on working people"
-Michael Parenti
This is exactly why the Capitalist establishment has ALWAYS tried to CO-OPT (appropriate) the socialist or nationalistic agenda and its leaders - to mobilize the working class on their side.
This is exactly why Hitler had to use a "socialist" named party to get to power..
There is no reverse logic or indeed any logic at all. I am utterly disgusted by this government and indeed all the others too. They are all bought and sold for American gold. The American robber barons, our colonial masters, tell us to base our economy like theirs on committing crimes agains people and planet, including genocide. The idea that deliberately impoverishing people, automating their jobs, taking control of their property, lives, even bodies and minds is 'logical' at all is sheer nonsense. Fascism always seeks to militarise, divide and rule and they are no exception. It demonstrates their complete lack of any ethics or even humanity. Starmer has been a disgrace to this country at least since he was in charge of the undercover policing scandal. There is no excuse for this at all. Keynes will be turning in his grave and regretting ever reading Bernard Mandeville. So why on earth do we put up with it? They need kicking out, pronto. And not in order to bring in an even more disgraceful fraudulent 'party' like Reform that makes a mockery of democracy. We urgently need a new party that will actually stand up for us. A party we can believe in. One that doesn't rob our poorest and most vulnerable and pour the money into weaponry.
"It is part of the general pattern of misguided policy that our country is now geared to an arms economy which was bred in an artificially induced psychosis of war hysteria and nurtured upon an incessant propaganda of fear."
"While such an economy may produce a sense of seeming prosperity for the moment, it rests on an illusionary foundation of complete unreliability and renders among our political leaders almost a greater fear of peace than is their fear of war."
-Douglas MacArthur, five-star general
That's classic Fascism. Corporatism+Militarism
Ask Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin (ex Raytheon executive) or the new "Kanzler" of Germany (ex BlackRock executive) how it really works..
We cannot much as individuals, if anything, but I believe we have a moral duty to simply speak the truth in a world filled with misinformation, disinformation, half truths and downright lies. Speak the truth.
We have been told since this crowd of charlatans got elected that there was no money, unless the pensioners and disabled were deprived. But huge amounts have been donated to killers Israel, and all of a sudden we are told we are going to rearm etc. And it isn't the men in grey suits who are going to lose their families and homes, of that you may be certain.
I am all for spending on a string military, but if we can afford to blow people up, we can afford to help people live good lives.
If we are one of the richest nations on the planet, surely we can afford what we need to.

I've been angry all my adult life, John! And you are right that unless we ordinary folk take a stand, the rich psychos will destroy everything.

So Fascism itself is reactionary by nature.

Absolutely. Proof, as if any more were needed, that we are ruled over by psychopaths.
Betrayal, again. The pattern continues, but did I really and truly expect it to be different? No. I'm 77 and not that naive since I turned 16.

Who wants to die for BlackRock? Maybe BAE Systems?
Make your choice, 'cos it's true "Democracy"!

Well said, and exactly right ❤️
